New Princeton Review Guide to 322 Green Colleges: We Are Now Included!

Campus Energy Assessment

As part of our sustainability efforts, Queens College is participating in Mayor Bloomberg's PlaNYC: a commitment to a 30% reduction in carbon emissions associated with energy consumption by 2017.

O'Brien and Gere Engineers (OBG) have been retained by CUNY to assess our campus energy usage and identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption. The team of engineers was on campus from January through March 2010.

The assessment consisted of a building-by-building survey focusing on building facade conditions, lighting systems, electrical loads, HVAC systems, central heating/cooling plant and distribution systems, plumbing, laboratories, and storm water retention. The team visited mechanical rooms, public areas, classrooms, laboratories, and offices in all of our buildings.
