Undergraduate Program in Art Education

Major (code 011)

For certification in the State of New York and licensing in New York City, students planning to teach art in junior or senior high schools must complete 51 credits in art, plus prescribed courses in secondary education. The requirements are the same as those of the BA in Studio Art, Fine Arts Concentration, except that ARTH 254 or 255 should be included in the 12-credit Art History requirement. Required secondary education courses are SEYS 201, 221, 222, 333, 365, and 375.

Note: ARTH 499.1, 499.2, and 499.3 cannot be used as part of the major requirements.
