In order to preregister for Fall 2012, English majors must
- Have a CUNYfirst account.
- Fill out this advisement record form with courses you have taken or are currently taking.
- See a full-time faculty member for advising. The advisement record form must be signed by a full-time faculty advisor before preregistration.

Information about preregistration for English Majors
Once every semester, the department sends out a letter inviting all English majors in for preregistration. Preregistration, which usually occurs in the seventh week of the semester, is the college’s way of making sure that students majoring in a department are able to register for the courses they need before anyone else can get in. The English department’s policy is that in the fall, students may preregister for three spring-semester courses, and in the spring, for two summer-and three fall-semester courses. We strongly advise you to see a full-time faculty member for advisement before preregistering, and that you do use the opportunity to preregister, to ensure that you are not closed out of courses that you will need to complete the English major.
Advisement Record Form
This form lists the requirements for the English major. If you are an English major, you need to fill it out before preregistration by listing the courses you have already taken or plan to take. The form needs to be signed by a full-time faculty advisor before preregistration.
