Lisa Bernard has taught Public Speaking as an Adjunct Lecturer at Queens College since 1999 and Oral Communication in the Workplace from 2000 through 2008. Educated at Union College (BA, 1983) and Columbia University (MA, 1989), she comes to the medium with a deep respect for the role of oratory in the human journey. By day, Lisa is Principal at Lisa Bernard's Word of Mouth, Inc., a Westport, CT-based boutique communications firm that has served clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors (www.LisaBernardsWordofMouth.com). Since 1988 she has provided and prepared speakers from Hartford to Hong Kong for interviews, media spots, meetings and presentations, herself delivered motivational addresses to audiences of over two thousand listeners, and designed and delivered workshops for clients ranging from musicians to medical professionals. She has authored numerous articles and a workbook series Lisa Bernard's Notes from the Podium and has been interviewed by ENTREPRENEUR, Agent & Manager, CRAIN's Small Business, Fairfield County Woman and Long Island Newsday. Lisa especially enjoys slowing down fast-talkers, fine-tuning accents, and ghost-writing speeches for busy executives. But her favorite group is young people and her roles prepping seniors for college admissions interviews, promoting scholarships for The CHELISAM Foundation (www.TheCHELISAMFoundation.org) and teaching undergraduates in her native Queens. She considers her blog, On the Contrary! Insights for Better Communication, (www.LisaBernard.wordpress.com), a classroom for students of all ages.
