Susan Macmillan

Susan Macmillan


Susan Macmillan has worked in the broadcast industry producing commercials (CBS), educational/documentary programming (PBS) and as an independent Producer/Director. She has taught television/video production at Queens College/CUNY and the University of North Carolina.

Her documentary, Caution: Hurricane Crossing, which aired on PBS, tells the story of the New York hurricane of 1938 and served as a model for hurricane preparedness in New York City.

Macmillan recently produced and directed a video documentary, Girls, Moving Beyond Myth, which focuses on the sexual dilemmas and difficult choices young girls face as they navigate contemporary American culture. The Media Education Foundation distributes the documentary.

She is currently researching issues on violence against women and girls.
