It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Martin Pine

Our dear friend and colleague, Professor Martin Pine, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 after a brief illness.

Professor Pine was an internationally known specialist in the Italian Renaissance. His publications included the book "Pietro Pomponazzi: Radical Philosopher of the Renaissance," as well as many articles on Medieval and Renaissance intellectual history. 

Professor Pine taught at Queens for 35 years, during which time his varied teaching experience included The Honors Program in the Western Tradition, The SEEK Program, The ACE Program, The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies as well as standard courses in the Department of History. He was also a member of the Doctoral Faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center. He was awarded the QC President's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1991.
