Sardell teaches the department's course on Health Services and Policy as well as its introductory courses on public policy and urban politics. Her courses in both public policy and urban politics emphasize knowledge of the policy process and its importance as critical tools for civic engagement. She has also led in developing the department’s Internship Seminar, and she plays a major role in supervising student internship experiences. Prof. Sardell is on the faculty of the CUNY Doctoral Program in Public Health. Sardell is the Evening Undergraduate Advisor and Internship Advisor. |  |  |

Prof. Sardell studies the politics of community-based health care and health care access.
She has also consulted for organizations advocating for school-based health centers by evaluating their organizational capacity and policy activities at both the state and national level. Publications
Her book, The U.S. Experiment in Social Medicine: The Community Health Center Program, 1965-1986, is the definitive policy history of one of this country's major innovations in health care delivery.
She is currently completing a book on the politics of children’s health insurance in the U.S. The research for this book was funded in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research, a highly competitive grant awarded annually to approximately 10-15 health policy scholars in the U.S.
Professor Sardell has published articles on the politics of Medicaid, SCHIP, and the welfare rights movement.
