Research Interests

Prof. Sardell studies the politics of community-based health care and health care access.

She has also consulted for organizations advocating for school-based health centers by evaluating their organizational capacity and policy activities at both the state and national level.

Her book, The U.S. Experiment in Social Medicine: The Community Health Center Program, 1965-1986, is the definitive policy history of one of this country's major innovations in health care delivery.
She is currently completing a book on the politics of children’s health insurance in the U.S. The research for this book was funded in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research, a highly competitive grant awarded annually to approximately 10-15 health policy scholars in the U.S.
