Opportunities for Students
Each Fall a Women and Gender Studies Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore or lower junior majoring in Women and Gender Studies. Interested students should contact the director.
The Virginia Frese Palmer Award is offered each Spring to the graduating Women and Gender Studies Major with the highest qualifying average.
WOMST 320: Fieldwork (Internship) in Women and Gender Studies. 3 credits. The student selects an organization from a list that we have provided and agrees to work approximately six hours a week at the selected organization. At the end of the semester, the student writes an approximately fifteen-page paper, one half of which is a description and evaluation of the organization and the work she/he did there; the other half is a research paper on a topic that has grown out of the student’s work during the internship. Consult with the director for registration and placement.
The Women’s Center
is a student-run club for students interested in women and gender issues. Each semester the club plans events. Interested students can contact the director of the Women and Gender Studies program to obtain contact information for club officers. See link to the Women’s Center
