Joel Spring, Education and Early Childhood Education professor was recognized in Beijing, China on October 14, 2010 to honor the Chinese publication of his book, The American School.
The American School marks Spring’s second book published in China. “This is my second book to be translated into Chinese and I was honored that they would consider it for publication. Three of my other books are now being considered for translation and publication in China,” says Spring. His first, Wheels in the Head, was published there about 4 years ago.
The publication ceremony took place at China’s prestigious Tsinghua University, where Spring was greeted with flowers and gifts along with much adulation and respect by the faculty and staff. The ceremony participants were four translators and the publisher who gave his introduction. Spring lectured on the “Globalization of Education,” and afterwards a reception was held in his honor at the university dining hall. They dined on authentic Chinese cuisine and celebrated with wine, laughter and fun in traditional Chinese celebration style. With constant aspiration to reach all cultures, Spring hopes to continually assist in revolutionizing education around the world.
