| | QC Alum Appointed Superintendent of Chicago Public Schools |  | Chicago mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel named Jean-Claude Brizard (BA ’85 and MsED ’90) to serve as the new superintendent of Chicago Public Schools. Brizard, who took the helm as CEO in May, brings with him over 20 years of experience within the New York City school system. He began his career as an instructor at Rikers Island and later transferred to George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School, where he taught physics and became principal in 1999. He is a graduate of the 2007 class of The Broad Superintendents Academy and considers this position an opportunity of a lifetime. In a sit down interview with Lynette Adams of WHEC-TV, Brizard expressed his excitement about his appointment. “To work with Rahm Emmanuel and with the kind of people I have heard and read about is a tremendous opportunity!”
