​Teacher Opportunity Corps
Program Eligibility

TOC is open to all academically qualified students who meet application requirements and priorities:
  • A New York State Resident*

  • Full time students*
    • Undergraduate students enrolled for 12+cr./semester
    • Graduate students enrolled for 9+cr./semester
  • Enrollment in /or track to enroll in a QC teacher preparation program leading to initial certification*

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program
    • Minimum application GPA of 2.75 for undergraduate students
    • Minimum  application GPA of 3.0 for graduate students & GRE score

  • Historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged individuals in the teaching profession**

  • Commit to teaching in a culturally diverse and high needs NYC public school* in Queens districts 27, 28 or 29**
    • Long term work is required in a NYC high needs school*** after successful graduation and initial certification
