Nutrition in the Sports Industry

This course is a study of the importance of nutrition in sports and exercise in order to maximize athletic potential and performance. Covered topics include food nutrients, the role of water and bioenergetics in exercise and training, heat and fluid regulation during physical activity, and weight and eating behaviors. The course will allow students to form educated and strategic regimens (exercise and dietary plans) from a scientific point of view grounded on both the molecular and holistic levels for serious/professional athletes and physically active individuals.

Location: Rome and Florence, Italy

NY departure and return dates: May 31 - June 28

Arrive in ROME morning of June 1st

Course: 4 credits

Housing: Shared housing in apartments

Program Costs:

Cost (includes all expenses below except airfare): $3500

CUNY tuition (for in-state, matriculated undergraduates): $980

QC program fee: $400

Travel insurance: $37

Consolidated Fee (includes Tuition Differential, Housing, Student and Lab Fees): $2083

Total cost with airfare: $4500​

Airfare: $1000 (estimate)

Additional costs:

Minimum budget for meals and personal expenses of $20 to $25 per day (approximately $600)

Programs are open to all undergraduate students from all CUNY campuses (unless restricted by level of study, language fluency, or other program criteria). Travel on Fridays and some Saturdays for some programs.
