China: Land and Its People

Discover the Southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu, known for its "noodles carried on a pole," relaxed atmosphere, large number of tea houses, and brocade work. Each afternoon, students will be taken by bus to a site of significance; lectures and content about these sites form an integral part of the learning experience. 

Highlights include the Wenshu Temple, Dujiangyen irrigation works, an evening opera performance, Giant Panda Breeding Preserve, Mount Emei. Students will travel to Beijing to visit  the Forbidden City, Great Wall, and Temple of Heaven.

Housing: Sichuan University Student housing and hotel in Beijing

Courses offered: 3 credits, Mandarin Language (All Levels)

Program Costs

Cost (includes all expenses below except airfare): $2800

CUNY tuition (for in-state, matriculated undergraduates): $690

Travel Insurance: $37

QC Program fee: $400

Consolidated fee (housing, excursions, welcome & farewell dinner): $1673

Total cost with airfare: $4800

Airfare: $2000 (estimate)

Additional costs:

Minimum budget for meals and personal expenses of $20 to $25 per day (approximately $600)

Visa for China: $170

Application Deadline April 8, 2013

Programs are open to all undergraduate students from all CUNY campuses (unless restricted by level of study, language fluency, or other program criteria). Travel on Fridays and some Saturdays for some programs.
