Bilbao: Global Strategic Management

          Conducted in English

The primary learning objectives of this course are to develop in students the knowledge and skills necessary to formulate and implement competitive strategies in global markets with an emphasis on business in Spain and the European Union. The course will introduce a set of analytical tools and require students to master and use these analytical tools in analyzing, evaluating, formulating, and implementing competitive global strategies. The pedagogy of the class will be a combination of lectures, case discussions, corporate tours and guest speakers, student presentations, tests and a term paper.

Located in the picturesque Basque country of northern Spain, 45 minutes from the famous beaches of San Sebastian and an hour away from France, Bilbao is an ideal site for students who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of international business. The poster city for successful urban renovation, Bilbao has transformed itself dramatically over the last decade into a cutting-edge, cosmopolitan banking and service center, with world-class museums and art galleries, gleaming subways, futuristic music halls, and a modern airport. Situated in the foothills of a beautiful green mountain range facing the ocean, where it is possible to hike in the morning and go swimming in the afternoon, Bilbao is a wonderful place to live and study.
