As part of the Queens College Office of Communications and Marketing, reporting to the Director of Editorial Services, the successful candidate will work on weekly faculty-staff newsletters; write and edit articles for the college’s alumni magazine; elicit submissions and prepare Commencement and Baccalaureate Convocation programs; help produce divisional and departmental programs and over 3,000 certificates for year-end ceremonies; edit and rewrite brochures for departments and offices; edit departmental and alumni newsletters; help prepare annual Q Gala program and script; assist with proofreading; work closely with Office of Enrollment Management in producing recruitment materials and advertising; help edit undergraduate and graduate bulletins; review copy for websites; edit and manage publication of college’s annual Fact Book; edit programs for the Aaron Copland School of Music and Department of Drama, Theatre, and Dance; review and edit faculty and staff mailers; and other duties as assigned.​

GENERAL DUTIES
Writes and prepares written material on College issues and event and provides professional support to College communications programs. 

- Researches and writes items in a variety of formats for publication in print, web sites, and presentations 

- Participates in planning communications projects and contributes to decisions on content and style 

- May assume editorial responsibility for communications projects; reviews and edits the work of others 

- May coordinate production of written materials 

- Adheres to journalistic standards for fact-finding, research, verification, and style 

- Performs related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.​

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in speech writing and writing for websites, solid proofreading skills, familiarity with the college environment, and knowledge of In Design and Microsoft Word programs are also desirable.


COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
