The Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Choral Music Education (dependent upon the experience of the successful applicant), appointment to begin in Fall 2018. The school seeks a dynamic teacher, researcher, and conductor to provide leadership in music education and choral music. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses, and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory and other functions.  Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in choral music methods, secondary general music, conducting and other courses related to the candidate’s expertise as well as conducting a choral ensemble. Additional responsibilities include serving as a music education advisor, supervising student teachers and performing departmental and campus-wide service. The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of research and scholarship as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations and/or performances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

​Doctorate in Music Education, Choral Conducting, or other appropriately related terminal degree is required. 


Five years of secondary school teaching experience and evidence of successful teaching and conducting at the college level are preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates who show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching (e.g., Google Classroom, Music First, Logic, Smart Music), have a background in edTPA preparation, and/or experience working with exceptional children and/or children of diverse ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.
