Interactive Map

A new addition to the Queens College Web site, an interactive map of the campus, is now available at http://www.qc.edu/Map .
Moving your mouse over a building on the map will bring up a picture and information about that building. Clicking on the building will take you to that building's page, which contains information such as the building's history, departments housed in it, and hyperlinks to those departments.  There is also a listing of the buildings' abbreviations and a version that you can print out, in color, for future reference.
Our next step will be to create virtual reality tours of the various buildings on campus.  Stay tuned!

Student Internships

OCT and the Computer Science Department have recently initiated a student internship program.  Selected students have been assigned to various academic and administrative departments on campus that need assistance with their Web sites.  This may consist of updating, revising or creating a web presence for departments without one.  Students will receive credit for their efforts.  We hope to continue this program on a semester basis.  If you are interested in using a student intern, please email us at webmaster@qc.edu

Spring 2004 Workshops

Introductory and intermediate Excel classes will be taught on April 23 and April 30, respectively.  May 7 and May 14 will bring an introductory and intermediate class in Access.  For full details, go the the registration page of the Educational Technology Web site.

Computer Lab Request Form

To reserve an OCT computer classroom/lab, an online reservation request form has been provided at http://www.qc.edu/OCT/lab_request_form/. We will no longer accept phone or paper reservation forms.
When you submit the request, we will send you an email to verify that we have received it. When we have determined the classroom/lab availability, we will send you an email confirmation.  Please note that all software that is needed by the instructor in the classroom/lab must be requested 12 weeks before the semester so that we may obtain the licenses and install the software.

3M Boards in Powdermaker

This innovative board integrates multimedia projection, a digital whiteboard and multi-site meeting capabilities into one interactive work board. It is similar to the Smartboard but differs in its functionality.
The 3M Board can be used as a stand alone board or it can be connected to a laptop to display the internet and DVDs from a player. PowerPoint presentations can be projected;  you can make notes, highlight and save the presentation, or capture the screen, write notes in "virtual ink", send them via the internet, or post them on Blackboard.
The 3M boards are located in Powdermaker 331, 212, 208, and 002. If you are scheduled for any of these rooms and would like to use the board, please call Media Services at 5060 to make arrangements for training well in advance of your scheduled class date.
