For most students, college poses a mixture of intellectual and personal challenges. Counselors at Queens College’s Advising Services understand these issues. The Academic Advising Center helps undergraduates meet the requirements for their bachelor’s degrees, while the Career Development and Internship Center tries to place current students and recent alums in positions that utilize their backgrounds. The Office of Minority Affairs and Pre-Professional Advisement has a full menu of services for people of color. International Students and Scholars addresses questions about visas and determines the American equivalent of credentials earned overseas. Nonacademic concerns are the specialty of the Counseling and Resource Center; its offerings include a Peer Program, staffed by select undergraduates who have been trained to advise their fellow students.
