Counseling Services Mission
The Counseling and Resource Center, in general, and Counseling Services, in specific, exist for the purpose of providing students with individualized services that will assist them in successfully negotiating the hurdles of college life and establishing their personal identities. We attempt to enhance students’ feelings of connectedness to themselves, the world, and the campus by helping them to explore their options and make decisions about their present and future lives.
Services Offered
Professional counselors and psychologists offer short-term individual counseling, groups, and/or referrals to appropriate college or community resources. Counselors assist in supporting students as they work to resolve difficulties while gaining a greater self-awareness and a better understanding of the choices they make within the context of their family, culture, community, and personal relationships. Students meet with counselors for many reasons, including:
- Family/relationship conflict
- College adjustment
- Career/life choices
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Low self-esteem
- Poor academic performance
