Jandry Bazurto
Jandry Bazurto is a junior in the Accounting program at Queens College. When he first arrived to Queens College, he struggled with adjusting to school on both an academic and social level. Jandry discovered that being an active student brought him more opportunities. He was never involved in a student club, especially at his prior college. At Queens College, he started to get involved with many activities on campus and met new people; that lead him closer to success. When Jandry first came to Queens College he had only one position on his resume. After meeting with a Career Counselor, Jandry worked for the Census Bureau, and secured an on campus position in Student Life. He just finished a successful internship at Crystal Window & Door Systems where he received a glowing review from his supervisor.
Jandry’s thoughts on the Office of Career Development and Internships
“I did not know to what to expect when I first entered the office. But I am glad I did because as soon as I stepped in, it was a step closer towards my career. The Career Counselor went out of her way in getting to know me, getting to know what I want and how to get it. They have great workshops that prepared me in getting the right tools I needed in getting a job. The counselor helped me by mentoring, advising and by never giving up on me. She kept me updated with my resume and any job or internship that was open. The Office of Career Development and Internships is a great start to get closer to your career and I suggest everyone take advantage of their services.”
