William Muraskin

Dr. Muraskin’s main areas of expertise are international health policy, politics of international health, foundations, and international health, immunization, development of vaccines for the developing world and emerging diseases. He has had numerous grants from the Rockefeller Foundation over a 10 year period to study the politics of international health in regards to the development and delivery of vaccines for the children of the poorest countries. Dr. Muraskin has studied public-private partnerships in health, including ones created by the Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. He has also looked at the portions of the United Nations that have an interest in health: WHO, UNICEF and The World Bank. He is the author of Crusade to Immunize the World’s Children: the Origin of the Bill and Melinda Gates Children’s Vaccine Program and the Birth of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (University of Southern California, Marshall School, Global BioBusiness book, 2005); Vaccines for Developing Economies: WHO WILL PAY? (Albert Sabin Vaccine Institute, New Canaan, CT, 2001); The Politics of International Health: The Children’s Vaccine Initiative and the Struggle to Develop Vaccines for the Third World (Albany State University of New York, 1998), and War Against Hepatitis B: the International Task Force on Hepatitis B Immunization (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1995).
Muraskin teaches the Department’s courses Urban Epidemics: Tuberculosis to AIDS, Emerging Diseases and the Criminal Justice System.
Muraskin is the Department’s Graduate Admissions Advisor.
