Direct Deposit/CUNY Scholar Card

CUNY offers two electronic payment methods for students to receive refunds. Students may choose the method most convenient for them.

Electronic payment eliminates both the risk of losing a check and the need to physically visit a bank to make a deposit.

Direct Deposit

All refunds of financial aid and/or tuition and fees (except those paid with a credit card) can be direct-deposited into your bank account. You need to set up direct deposit through your CUNYfirst Self-Service account by following these easy steps:
1. Navigate to Self-Service >Campus Finances >Manage My Account
2. Click Add Account on the My Accounts page and enter the required account information; then click Next. *TIP: Refer to your check or bank to verify your bank code (routing number) and account information.
3. Make sure you then click Enroll in Direct Deposit.
4. Select your account nickname and click Next.
5. Read the Enroll in Direct Deposit Agreement, click Yes to agree and SUBMIT to finish.

Note: CUNY will never ask you to confirm any personal information via email. Always sign on to CUNYfirst to process your transactions and review account details.

CUNY Scholar Card

Now you can receive your financial aid balance, work-study or student payroll directly on the NEW CUNY Scholar Card. Your Money Network® Enabled CUNY Scholar Card gives you the purchasing power, functionality and security of a bank-issued prepaid card. Funds can be electronically delivered to your Money Network® Account in less time than it takes for a check or an ACH to clear in a traditional bank account. It's fast, safe and convenient! Students who do not opt to enroll in an electronic method will receive a check at their mailing address. Students can review their mailing address in CUNYfirst Self-Service.

To view payment due dates, go to the Bursar Information Letter and select the semester needed.

Tuition/Registration Appeal

Tuition/Registration appeals are reviewed by the Registration Review Committee. The committee examines all documentation presented by a student seeking a relief from their registration/tuition/fee debt for extenuating circumstances. Students must file a Registration Review Appeal Form (please use a browser other than Firefox). Processing directions are on the first page of the appeal form.

Appeals are to be submitted to the Welcome Center in Jefferson Hall.
