If you have received a Spring 2012 financial aid check from us dated either January 19, 2012 or January 25, 2012, or a direct deposit with the same dates, please read this carefully.

THIS CHECK OR DIRECT DEPOSIT IS TO
HELP YOU PAY FOR BOOKS FOR YOUR
SPRING 2012 CLASSES AT QUEENS COLLEGE
As of mid-January 2012, you appeared to be eligible for this Book Advance Check. These funds are to be used by you anywhere, for books or your other beginning of the semester expenses.

This is NOT an additional award. It is cash advanced to you now from your remaining Pell Grant or SEOG after your early tuition / fees bill appeared to be covered by your own payment and / or estimated aid eligibility.
Your book advance will be $ 500 *OR* the balance that appears to be remaining in your Pell Grant, whichever is less. The minimum Pell Book Advance check is $ 25.

Eligible students in the SEEK program are receiving these checks at the same time.

Ask about the helpful options they offer to make it easy for you to use your book check in the bookstore. Check their website for store information, store hours, and textbook information.

Before you use this check make sure you do not have an outstanding balance for this semester or any prior semesters.

Please note --- if your eligibility for this or any of your anticipated aid changes, or there are changes in your tuition bill, you may have to repay these funds and / or you may owe more to the College for your tuition bill.
Be sure to stay eligible for all your aid.

If you have already signed up with the Bursar's Office for Direct Deposit of your Financial Aid checks, or with Citibank for the new CUNY Scholar Support Debit Card, it will be in your account.
If you do not have Direct Deposit or the CUNY Scholar Support Card, and a check is prepared for you, it would be a paper check mailed to you by CUNYy, to the address on the Financial Aid file - usually the address you put on the FAFSA application.
Any Pell or SEOG that you have remaining as of the standard distribution dates for those programs later in the semester will be mailed to you - or direct deposited to your account - at that time.
