Name, social security number, CUNYID, and address problems
Use the same name, social security number, and address on all CUNY and aid computer systems.
Social Security Number: Federal and NY State financial aid programs require that your social security number information appear on all applications and on the student system of the College, so we can verify that the student awarded aid is in fact the student we are certifying for that aid. As a result, students requesting financial aid MUST use their social security numbers on their aid applications AND their social security numbers must be included in their CUNYFirst record. Financial Aid students cannot choose to ignore the SSN question on the admissions application. Using no SS number on CF or using a different SS number on CF and your aid applications WILL cause automatic cancellation of your aid due to automatic computer matches.
Name: Please DO NOT update your name with the College if you are using a different name on your aid applications. The name for you in the following three places MUST be the same: Social Security, CUNYFirst, and your aid applications. Using different names IS LIKELY TO cause automatic cancellation of your aid.
CUNYID: If you have more than one CUNYID in CUNYFirst, there is likely to be a problem for your aid. Unfortunately, having them combined does not automatically resolve the problem.
Address: Having one address on the financial aid application and another on CUNYFirst is LIKELY going to cause a problem. While most communications are sent by email, some are sent to the address on CF and some to the address on your aid application. In addition, some checks are mailed to the address on CF, and some are mailed to the address on your aid applications. If you are updating the address on CF, be sure to update it separately with us as well.
