Note that Pell Book Advance Checks and the Pell and Fox Book Vouchers are NOT additional money.  They are designed to let you use some of your aid earlier in the semester than the regular distribution dates.

Pell Book Advance Checks
The Spring 2010 Pell Book Advance Check program is designed for students who had all their Spring 2010 aid cleared early before mid-January and had a semester Pell balance remaining at that time after their own payments and anticipated aid were applied toward their tuition / fees bill. 

This program was first used in Fall 2009, replacing our old automatic Pell Book Voucher program.

The students who are expected to receive a Pell Book Advance Check for Spring 2010 are sent email to their QC email address shortly before the check is issued, announcing important details of the program and that they are expected to receive a Pell Book Advance Check (students who have elected direct deposit will receive the funds that way) just before classes start.  The email also advises them of options offered by the QC Bookstore for students receiving a Pell Book Advance Check who want to use it at the Bookstore.

The amount of an eligible student's Pell Grant Book Advance Check will be $ 500 *OR* the balance reaining in the Pell Grant, whichever is less.  The minimum Pell Book Advance Check for eligible students is $ 10.

>>> If you receive a check dated January 27th, and the stub says Pell grant and has the coding " 103 107," the check is a Spring 2010 Pell Book Advance Check.

Pell Book Vouchers --- for students who become eligible later
Students who have become eligible later can come to the Financial Aid Office with photo id starting January 25th and complete paperwork to OPT-IN to the Pell Book Voucher program, for use at the QC Bookstore through February 11th. When the paperwork is complete, you can take it directly to the Bookstore and start to use the credit.

The book voucher maximum is $ 500 - or the Pell grant balance remaining for the semester - whichever is less.  The amount that will be deducted from your check later in the semester will be the amount you actually used of this amount in the Bookstore.

Adele Fox Book Vouchers --- from SEOG, Perkins Loans, Direct Loans
The Adele Fox Book Voucher Program is for students with a balance remaining in their SEOG, Perkins Loans or Direct Loans - with all paperwork requirements complete.  It is similar to the Pell Book Voucher Program in amounts.  Fox Book Vouchers must be requested in person in the Financial Aid Office - starting January 28th, and are good in the QC Bookstore only through February 5th.  Bring photo ID when you come to complete the paperwork to OPT-IN to this program.  When the paperwork is complete, you can take it directly to the Bookstore and start to use the credit.
