Business & Liberal Arts (BALA)

BALA is a highly selective minor—unique to Queens College—that combines business leadership skills with the liberal arts. It develops advanced intellectual, entrepreneurial, and managerial abilities, equipping students for leadership roles in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. The interdisciplinary courses encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and effective writing and speaking. Students benefit from internships, mentoring, career workshops, and an annual off-campus retreat where they have a chance to network with faculty, professionals, and business leaders.

BALA students combine eight minor courses (24 credits) with any of the college’s more than 60 liberal arts and sciences majors. Thus, they have the flexibility to prepare for careers in a wide variety of industries, from communications and the media to science and engineering.
