Our Services
The Office of Honors and Scholarships offers a variety of services to currently enrolled Queens College students. In addition to managing selection and administration of many Queens College Foundation scholarship awards, we provide assistance to students who are applying for outside scholarship aid and fellowship programs. We also oversee the Freshman Honors Program and provide information about the college's other honors programs.
Prospective and incoming students who are interested in merit-based scholarships should contact the Office of Admissions for an application and selection criteria information.
Internal Scholarships
Continuing students who demonstrate a strong academic record and financial need are encouraged to apply for merit-based scholarships (also known as "internal scholarships") offered by the Queens College Foundation. Additional internal scholarship information and the application are available through our "MyQC"
page. We review applications twice per year, in October and March, for awards payable in the following semester.
External Scholarships
Queens College students
may be eligible for CUNY-wide awards, regional and national competitive
programs, and private sources of funding, too. Selection criteria varies by award, with some restricted to certain majors, grade point averages, or other personal characteristics. To help students find scholarships and awards from other organizations, we maintain an extensive database of scholarship information through our "MyQC" page.
Major National Awards
Our students have been highly successful in winning major national scholarships. The prestigious awards Queens students have won include the Watson, the Marshall, the Fulbright, the Truman, the Mellon, and the Goldwater Scholarships, in addition to many others.
Our office mentors students through the application process and assists students in developing the personal statements and essays required for the applications. We also help coordinate the overall application process with students and recommending faculty.
Students interested in applying for a competitive national award should contact our office for an appointment. Additional information is available through our "MyQC" page.
