QUEENS COLLEGE SELECTS DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROPOSAL

FOR ON-CAMPUS HOUSING FROM CAPSTONE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

FLUSHING, NY, July 9, 2007—Administrators of Queens College of the City University of New York (CUNY) have selected Capstone Development Corporation to work with them on the design and construction of the proposed residence halls. In February the college had announced plans to solicit proposals regarding the construction of a low-rise residence hall. No public funds will finance the project, which is estimated at $63 million and expected to accommodate 450-550 students, with parking spaces added for 200 cars.

Established in 1990, Capstone Development Corporation is an Alabama-based firm that specializes in the development and management of student housing nationwide. Since 1994 Capstone has partnered with more than 50 colleges and universities, including City College (CUNY) in Manhattan, to develop over 30,000 beds of on-campus housing. Currently they manage over 14,000 beds on 18 campuses.
