John F. Miksad is responsible for the safe and reliable delivery of electrical energy in the five boroughs of New York and Westchester County. Previously Miksad served as Vice President of Electric Operations in Manhattan. In the wake of September 11, 2001, Miksad worked as Planning Chief in charge of Con Edison’s restoration efforts at Ground Zero. He joined Con Ed in 1981 after graduating from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

The Queens College Business Forum was launched in the fall of 2005. Sponsored by the Queens Borough President’s Office, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Chase, Con Edison, Farrell Fritz, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, its purpose is to serve as a catalyst within the diverse areas of Queens, bringing together the business community, local government, academia, and students to provide an opportunity for “town and gown” to interact. Influential leaders in a number of fields serve as keynote speakers at a series of breakfast lectures, touching on issues vital to the Queens business community. The forum’s theme, “Queens: A Catalyst for Success,” is reflected in the subject matter of each seminar. The goal of the forum is to foster discussions that provide insight to attendees on how local businesses are seizing opportunities and profitably adapting to changes in business and regulatory conditions. This academic year the forum has featured as keynote speakers Russell Artzt, Queens College ’68, co-founder and Executive Vice President of CA; Wellington Chen, Executive Director of the China Development Partnership; and Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, of the New York Mets. Last year’s speakers included Dean Furbush, CEO of FreshDirect; Gary Kesner, General Counsel of Silvercup Studios; and Napoleon Barragan, Chairman and CEO of 1-800-Mattress.
