Chen will talk about his eight years of work redeveloping downtown Flushing, and most recently, how he has led the LDC in improving business conditions and boosting tourism and marketing in lower Manhattan.

Recently named Executive Director of the LDC, Wellington Chen has been responsible for implementing major initiatives to clean up Chinatown’s streets, improve the quality of life for residents and workers and provide a major boost to the area’s commerce and tourism. A planning, design and land use consultant, Chen is Senior Vice President of the TDC Development Corp., a Queens real estate company, and a Senior Associate of the New York Society of Architects. He has also served as a Commissioner of the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals.
A resident of Queens and a long-time community leader, Chen co-founded Destination Flushing, which spearheaded the revival of the downtown Flushing business district. He has also been active in the borough’s Asian American/Asian Research Institute and serves on CUNY’s Board of Trustees. Chen graduated from City College’s School of Architecture and Environmental Studies.
