QC STUDENT AND SHOW FINALIST FRANCISCO PATINO
-- A Crowd of Cheering Supporters, Including Francisco’s Family and Friends,
Will be Featured at the College During the Nationally Broadcast Show --
FLUSHING, NY, May 15, 2006—We are pleased to announce that a student in our BALA program, Francisco Patino, is one of four finalists on the ABC-TV show “American Inventor.” Francisco’s inspirational story reflects what Queens College is all about. The youngest of the inventors at 19 years old, Francisco was born in Colombia and immigrated to New York City when he was 12, determined to “make something great of his life.” He entered his design for a “double traction bicycle” in the show's national competition and was accepted as a contestant. The invention features a bicycle with a second seat on its handlebars so that another rider can help power the bike with his own set of pedals.
The $1 million winner and next great “American Inventor” will be announced live during the Thursday, May 18 show, which broadcasts on channel 7 from 8 – 10 pm. Its producers want to feature a cheering crowd of Francisco’s supporters watching him on television that evening at the college. Please join Francisco’s family and friends in the Student Union cafeteria promptly at 7:30 pm for the taping, which ends at 10 pm. Refreshments will be served. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your school spirit and participate in a popular, nationally televised broadcast.
Since we are trying to gauge the number of people for refreshment purposes, please contact Maria Matteo at (718) 997-5593 or email@example.com if you plan to attend.
