Queens College Foundation Hosts 4th Annual Golf & Tennis Classic September 14 at Fresh Meadow Country Club

FLUSHING, NY, August 24, 2009—On Monday, September 14, the Queens College Foundation will host its Fourth Annual Golf and Tennis Classic at the Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, NY, to raise funds for QC student athletic scholarships.  This year’s event will recognize The Capstone Companies as corporate honoree and Emmy Award winner and CBS-TV news anchor Maurice DuBois as community leader honoree. Fees for the day start at $125 (dinner only), $150 (tennis) and $400 (golf), with a variety of sponsorship opportunities available for individual and group donors.  Sign-in/locker assignments start at 12:00 noon for golf and 1:00 pm for tennis.

Capstone is building The Summit, QC’s first residence hall, which is scheduled to open its doors later this month. As a leader in student housing development, management and construction, Capstone has developed student housing for 54 colleges and universities – more than any other firm in the U.S.

Maurice DuBois co-anchors “CBS 2 News This Morning” and “CBS 2 News at Noon,”
as well as substitutes as news anchor for the weekend editions of “The CBS Evening News” and “The Early Show.”  In addition to four Emmys, DuBois has won several journalism and community honors, including awards from the Associated Press and the New York Association of Black Journalists.  He also serves on the boards of three non-profit institutions:  PENCIL, the

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure/NYC and NY City Center.  A Long Island native, DuBois currently resides in Manhattan.
