Queens Art Teachers and Their Students Collaborate for New Exhibition Coming to QC

ART IN COMMON: Budding young artists and their teachers had the chance to present their work February 10 at the Queens Museum of Art through a recent collaboration between Queens College and the museum. Called Queens: Multiple Visions—Demonstrating the Multiplicity of Relationships Between Queens Art Teachers and Students, the exhibition drew crowds for the gala opening reception. QC art education professor Rikki Asher, at left, stands next to a fourth grade student from the 51st Avenue Academy. The student’s piece, above her shoulder, is entitled Asian Landscape, India ink on paper. Her art teacher Kathleen Izzo also exhibited her work.

A selection of 18 works from among eight participating schools in the juried exhibition, which was on display at the museum through February 27, will open at Queens College with an April 14, 2011 reception. Called Multiple Visions II, it will remain on display until March 14, 2012.
