FLUSHING, February 4, 2016 − Every year, the Jewish student organization Hillel International recognizes those individuals and chapters that embody its mission with enthusiasm and dedication on college campuses around the world, and by their example, inspire all of Hillel’s students and staff. Last month, Hillel International President and CEO Eric Fingerhut honored Queens College Hillel with the Phillip H. and Susan Rudd Cohen Outstanding Campus Award.
According to the national administrators, Queens College Hillel was chosen in particular for engaging a vastly diverse Jewish student body, embodying pluralism and tolerance in the best tradition of Hillel in one of the largest and most diverse Jewish and non-Jewish student populations in the world.
“Queens College Hillel demonstrates a passion for enriching the lives of our students and ensuring that every facet of Hillel reflects a culture of excellence,” said Mr. Fingerhut. “Their work is critical not only to their own community, but is helping to grow the next generation of Jewish leaders across the country.”
After receiving the award, Queens College Hillel’s Executive Director Uri Cohen said, “We are so gratified to receive this recognition. We are proud of our work engaging thousands of students from all over the world, and this award from Hillel International and the Cohen family validates the excellence we offer students.”
The 2015 Phillip H. and Susan Rudd Cohen Outstanding Campus Award was presented during the Hillel International Global Assembly, which was held in Orlando, Florida, from December 14 -17. The conference brought together more than 700 Hillel staff members and leaders from around the world to share best practices, teach new skills, build community and strengthen the work of Hillel staff on every college campus.
