Family Friendly Queens College Summer Camp Combines Sports and Classes for Kids

-- Visit Open Houses Now During 29th Year of Service to Community --

FLUSHING, NY, January 31, 2017—From team sports and swimming to arts classes and academic enrichment, the Queens College Summer Camp offers something for all children, ages 5 to 14, as well as a counselor-in-training leadership program for 15- and 16-year-olds. Rewarding for youngsters, affordable and convenient for their parents, this camp is one of the best values in town; last year it served more than a thousand families from Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau County.

“Over the past 28 years, the Queens College summer camp has become a staple for parents throughout the Borough of Queens looking for a quality summer experience for their children,” says QC Assistant Vice President/Athletics Director China Jude, as she announced a series of on-campus open houses beginning Sunday, February 5 (see full list below), “The program’s variety, the diversity of its staff and campers, and the supervision provided by the camp’s well-trained staff create a wonderful experience for children and a sense of comfort and value for parents.”

Launched in 1988, the summer camp is a logical extension of QC’s participation in NCAA Division II sports. Activities make use of campus athletics facilities, and many of the counselors are drawn from the college’s varsity teams.

Programming has kept up with the times. Today, parents have the choice of 2-, 4-, 6-, or 8-week sessions with a wide range of age-appropriate options to help children exercise their bodies, their minds, and their imagination. Young athletes who are especially passionate about a single sport may be interested in QC’s three specialty programs: an overnight volleyball camp for girls; a basketball day camp for boys and girls; and, back for the second year, a daytime soccer academy for boys and girls led by the legendary David Villa, captain of the New York City Football Club, the Big Apple’s professional team.

Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch is provided to all campers, whatever their schedule. Transportation to and from campus is available at an extra fee.

Families are invited to learn more about the Queens College Summer Camp at an open house, held on campus at FitzGerald Gymnasium, Room 313, from 10 am to 12 noon on the following dates:
