FREE Professional Development

NYDBC has designed an extensive library of online learning modules all related to deaf-blindness for your professional development. No special equipment or downloads are needed. You simply need access to a computer with high speed internet access.

Adult learning theory states that we learn best through a multimedia approach. All modules have been designed to take into consideration the varied learning styles of each participant, applying best practices in universal design. The modules were created to meet the needs of families, educators and related professionals.

The following modules are currently available:
  • Overview of Deaf-Blindness & Early Identification
  • Communication Strategies, Units 1-4
  • Instructional Strategies, Units 1-2
  • Self-Determination for Young Adults
  • Person Centered Planning
  • Orientation & Mobility
  • Physical Education, Recreation & Sport
  • Transition Planning
Upcoming Modules:
  • Transdisciplinary Teaming
  • Parent-Professional Collaboration
Certificates of completion for CEU (Continuing Education Units) are available upon completion of the entire module.  For further details regarding CEUs contact us at:
