Summer Financial Aid
Information below is special summer information, and is in addition to standard eligibility criteria for each program. File all applications early. If aid you expect to appear on your Summer bill is not on the bill, contact us before the bill due date.
TAP
TAP for Summer 2007 is based on the 2007-2008 TAP application. TAP application filing information is at applying.php . Students who want Summer TAP should request Summer 2007 TAP when filing the 2007-2008 TAP application on the web.
TAP for Summer 2008 is based on the 2008-2009 TAP application. TAP application filing information is at applying.php .

>>> NEW for 2007:<<< To be eligible for TAP for Summer Session 2007 at Queens College, students must have earned a minimum of 24 credits applicable to the degree during the prior two semesters (for summer 2007 TAP: Fall 2006 and Spring 2007; for Summer 2008 TAP: Fall 2007 and Spring 2008) AND have been full-time in the semester Spring semester immediately prior to the summer. These 24 credits must have been earned at Queens College and could have been earned in any combination (e.g. 12 and 12, or 9 and 15 etc.)
Students must also register during the summer for a minimum of 6 credits, Students enrolled for 12 or more credits in Sessions 1S, 1L, 2S and/or 2L will use a full semester award, and those enrolled for 6 to 11 credits will use half a semester's TAP eligibility.
You must have formally declared your major with the Registrar's Office before Summer classes begin if you will have 60 credits toward your degree. Students on permit to QC can only be certified for TAP at their home school within NY State.

Pell
Pell Students who are full-time in both the Fall and Spring use their entire annual Pell eligibility in those semesters.
- To request Pell grant for Summer 2007 as part of your 2007-2008 Pell award, you must file the FAFSA for the 2007-2008 academic year, and must request Summer Pell in writing on a form available in the Financial Aid Office. Summer 2007 Pell from your 2007-2008 award may decrease your Spring 2008 Pell.
- To request Pell grant got Summer 2008 as part of your 2008-2009 Pell award, you must file the FAFSA for the 2008-2009 academic year, and must request Summer Pell in writing on a form available in the Financial Aid Office. Summer 2008 Pell from your 2008-2009 award may decrease your Spring 2009 Pell.
Direct Loan
Direct Loan for Summer 08 is based on your new FAFSA application for 2008-2009. After you file the FAFSA and TAP applications, and you have cleared any problems and edits, there is an additional application to file with a Financial Aid Counselor. See our Direct Loan web page or ask us about requirements for filing the Direct Loan Electronic Master Promissory Note on the web before submitting the Direct Loan Request Papers to us. Summer 08 Direct Loan Request Papers will be accepted starting the first week of June for students matriculated in a degree program who are registered for at least 6 credits in Summer I / Summer II combined, or Summer II only. A 2.0 Cum GPA is required for undergraduates after 28 credits; a 3.0 is required for graduate students. You can file a combined application for Direct Loan for Summer 08, Fall 08 and Spring 09 starting sometime in July if you are also registered for Fall 08 for at least 6 credits.
SEEK
SEEK money for Summer 07 is based on your new FAFSA application for 2007-08. SEEK money for Summer 08 is based on your new FAFSA application for 2008-2009. PENDING AVAILABILITY OF SEEK FUNDS, SEEK students who have not already received 2 summer payments can receive Summer SEEK money, if they are registered in 6 credits in Summer II, or in Summer I / Summer II combined.
Work-Study (FWS)
Students awarded FWS for Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 may use their award during Summer 08 if they accept summer FWS placement off-campus in an community service job. After you receive your FWS award, see our FWS coordinator for more information and additional eligibility requirements.
