Federal Financial Aid for Winter Session 2007-2008 is very limited - details are below. There is NO New York State aid available for Winter Session. Information below is special Winter aid eligibility information, and is in addition to standard eligibility criteria for each program. File all aid applications early. Please ask us if you have further questions about your aid eligibility. Please note that there are SEPARATE registrations, separate and additional charges for Winter Session courses, and a separate refund schedule, as well as separate aid eligibility issues and rules. Due to technical limitations, however, Winter 2007-2008 registration is in some ways tied to Fall 2007. For Winter 2007-2008, Pell Grant Complete our Winter Pell Request Form to be sure to get a Winter Pell Grant. Eligibility for a Winter Pell Grant will in some cases reduce the amount of Pell available to a student for the regular Spring session. Since the maximum number of full-time equivalent semester Pell payments a student can receive in one academic year is two, a student who received a 2007-2008 full-time Pell grant in the Summer and a full-time Pell in the Fall will have no remaining Pell eligibility for either Winter or Spring. Although registration for Fall 2007 and Winter 2007-2008 are combined under Fall 2007, Pell eligibility determinations for Winter and Spring Pell are made separately based on credits in each session. For example, a student who has no eligibility at less than 1/2 time (less than 6 credits) will not get Pell for Winter since the maximum credits allowed during that time is 4 --- regardless of that student's registration for the Fall. Direct Loans Additional Information About Winter Session: Eligibility to Register for Winter Session, Separate Tuition, Separate Refund Schedules, etc. Registration for the Winter is part of the Fall semester options and is as a result connected to it in a variety of ways. It is, however, considered a separate session by the University for many purposes in addition to aid eligibility. Please note that tuition for Winter is charged on a per-credit basis IN ADDITION to tuition charged for the regular Fall semester. In some cases, there may also be additional fees. Detailed information on eligibility to register, courses available, billing amounts, payment deadlines and other Fall / Winter policies and information will be available
