Queens College is the center for the arts in Queens.
The Evening Reading Series has brought
some of the world's finest writers to campus, including Toni Morrison,
Norman Mailer, Doris Lessing, and V. S Naipaul. Great performers from
all fields of music-- Dionne Warwick, Pinchas Zuckerman, George Benson,
to name a few--have taken the stage at Colden Auditorium, which also regularly
presents family shows. The only museum in Queens with art from ancient
to modern times, the Godwin-Ternbach houses more than 3,000 works of
art. You can also visit the exhibits in the Louis Armstrong Archives
and Queens College Art Center. Try the Center for Jewish Studies for
thoughtful lectures, films, and performances. School of Music students
play almost daily in the acoustically perfect LeFrak Hall, and drama
and dance students perform year-round. Chances are excellent you will
see a future star! (Jerry Seinfeld, Paul Simon, Ray Romano, Adrien Brody,
Fran Drescher, and Marvin Hamlisch all attended QC). Our programming
is open to the public, and most is free of charge.
