CUNY E-PERMIT INFORMATION
Obtaining permission to take courses at another CUNY school
The City University of New York has implemented an electronic system, which allows a student to file for a CUNY permit online.
- In order to take a course on permit, you must make sure that you meet the permit eligibility requirements. For more information, please log on to the Registrar’s Office homepage at http://www.qc.cuny.edu/registrar/ and click on “Permit Information.”
- A CUNY portal account must be created before submitting an E-Permit application. To create an account, please log on to http://www.cuny.edu/ and click on “Log-in,” which is located on the bottom left column of the site. (NOTE: Once you have created your account, you may experience a 24 hours delay in accessing the CUNY E-Permit Log-in site.
BE AWARE THAT:
- E-Permit applications will be accepted only during the registration period for the term in which you intend on taking the course.
- Retroactive permits will not be issued.
- Submitting multiple E-Permit applications to take the same course at several CUNY schools during the same academic term is not allowed. You will only be granted permission to take this course at one CUNY school.
- The grades earned for courses taken on permit at a CUNY school will be posted to your record and calculated into your cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) at Queens College.
- An approved E-Permit does not guarantee enrollment at the host college.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE E-PERMIT APPLICATION PROCESS
- Your E-Permit application requires three levels of approvals from Queens College . As a result, we ask that you please allow the permit approvers adequate time to process your application.
- You will receive an e-mail each time your application has been reviewed by a permit approver.
- The host college will send you an e-mail with registration instructions once your E-Permit has been accepted and processed.
STUDENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES
- You must register for the approved permit course using the host college’s registration system.
- You must pay for the permit course at Queens College . Tuition and fees must be paid in accordance with the Bursar’s Office “Payment Due Dates” schedule. For further information, please log on to their web page at http://www.qc.cuny.edu/bursar/
- You are required to submit a separate E-Permit application for each course you intend on taking. Do not register for a course that has not been approved by the Registrar’s Office.
