Details of the Commencement Ceremony
Queens College Commencement Day is a wonderful and memorable occasion. It begins at 9 am with the college-wide ceremony (about 2 hours) on the Quad, the grassy plain in the center of the campus. This is followed by many divisional and departmental ceremonies. The day ends with many--but not all--departments holding receptions and parties. For specific information, please contact your department.

THE QUAD COLLEGE-WIDE PROCESSION
The graduate procession includes four lines of marchers. Master's recipients will be assigned to their appropriate line and march at the head of their Division's group. Bachelor's recipients must choose the division with which they wish to march. (Most choose to march with their majors.) Please be sure to fill out the online RSVP Form; a link will be found on our site.
CONFERRING OF DEGREES AT THE QUAD COLLEGE-WIDE CEREMONY
Each group of degree candidates will be asked to stand. One previously designated representative of each group will proceed to the stage to be hooded. In the interests of time, other graduates do not go to the platform--the ceremony would last for hours. After the group representative is hooded, the group is asked to be seated. After the hoodings, all graduates will be asked to stand as the president confers all degrees.
Note: Many graduates will have the opportunity to walk on stage at the events immediately following Commencement.
Graduates receive programs in assembly areas when they line up at 8 am for the procession. Guests obtain programs from tents on the Quad.
Very limited! Public transportation, carpooling, being dropped-off, and an early start are highly recommended. Dispatchers will be at the college to expedite bus departures after Commencement.
