Berlin: German Language and Culture

Visit and explore the capital of Germany, a European center of science, politics, culture, and the arts. The most affordable capital within Europe, Berlin’s many attractions draw in students and visitors from around the world. The FUBiS program is a highly regarded program for students who want to experience Berlin’s dynamic culture while taking German language and culture courses (in German or in English) at the Freie University of Berlin, one of the top research universities in Europe. FUBiS offers German language courses at five different proficiency levels, and culture courses in German and English on European topics. Program fee includes a guided tour through the Reichstag Building and the Federal Parliament, a riverboat tour through downtown Berlin, a weekly movie time with popular and well-known German films, a FUBiS student ID (for reduced price meals at the dining hall, student tickets for sights, museums etc.), access to computing (including the Internet), and printing facilities on campus.

NY departure and return dates: January 4 - 25, 2019
Arrive in Berlin morning of January 5

Courses offered: Each student will choose one of the following courses: ​

European Studies (3 Credits)​

FUBIS German Semi-Intensive Language Beginner 1 (4 Credits)

FUBIS German Semi-Intensive Language Beginner 2​ (4 Credits)

FUBIS German Semi-Intensive Language Intermediate 1​ (4 Credits)

FUBIS German Semi-Intensive Language Intermediate 2 (4 Credits)

FUBIS German Intensive Language Advanced​ (4 credits)

Program Costs:

Cost (includes all expenses below except airfare): $1655

QC Program Fee: $400

Travel insurance: $55

Consolidated Fee (Housing -single room-, Differential Tuition, and Excursions) : $1200

Not included in the above cost:

CUNY tuition​$1180​ for the Language course, and $885 for the subject courses.

(The tuition above is for in-state / CUNY matriculated undergraduates)

Airfare: $1000 - $1300 (estimate).

$300 extra for homestay housing.

Minimum budget for meals and personal expenses of $25 to $30 per day.

Application Deadline: October 27, 2017

Programs are open to all undergraduate and graduate students from all CUNY campuses (unless restricted by level of study, language fluency, or other program criteria). Travel on Fridays and some Saturdays for some programs.
