This course considers how street photographers strive
to capture the life and culture of city streets, searching for what Henri
Cartier-Bresson, one of the most famous street photographers of all time,
termed the "Decisive Moment." When it comes to street photography,
many photographers traditionally choose to work in black and white, focusing
the viewer's attention on the subject by eliminating the distraction of color.
This course will cover both black and white and color practices, as well as
discuss the use of wide-angle and long focal length lenses. Techniques mastered
by Cartier-Bresson, Garry Winogrand, and Costas will be examined.
