This 4-year academic plan is designed to help freshmen entering Queens College in Fall 2023. Our 4-year academic plans are illustrative examples of integrated degree requirements and course sequencing for each of the College\u2019s programs of study which are designed<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 To declare a major in accounting, a student must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher, and must have completed at least 30 credits at either Queens College or another accredited institution. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 Lowest grade accepted for major? C in ACCT courses; C- in non-ACCT courses.
\u2022 In addition, all students must earn a GPA of 2.5 or higher in all courses usable for the major (i.e., accounting, economics, business, and <\/span><\/p>\n

computer science that qualify for the major).
\u2022 A student\u2019s ability to retake a course is limited to only two times. A student who did not earn at least the minimum grade after two such <\/span><\/p>\n

retake attempts will be dropped from the major.
\u2022 Major GPA Requirement applies after completion of four major courses. Students must maintain the required GPA in order to <\/span><\/p>\n

remain in the program.

\u00a5 <\/strong>Math 122 is prerequisite for ECON 249. Accounting students can take <\/span>MATH 122 <\/strong>with the P\/NC grading policy and if a <\/span>\u201cP\u201d <\/span>is earned it would be accepted as a prerequisite for ECON 249. However, <\/span>MATH 122 <\/strong>with a P grade will not fulfill the Pathways\u2019 MQR requirement, pre-requisite for Calculus I <\/span>(MATH 131, 141, OR 151), OR the Economics\/BBA major\/minor pre-calculus requirement. <\/span>MATH 122 <\/strong><\/em>with a grade of D or better fulfills the prerequisite for ECON 249 OR if a Student is placed into Calculus (Math 131, Math 141 or Math 151), student is considered to have fulfilled the Math prerequisite
for ECON 249. However, MATH 122 with a \u201cD\u201d grade will not fulfil the Calculus I (MATH 131, 141, OR 151) prerequisite minimum grade require<\/span>–
ments.
<\/span>\u00a5 ECON 249<\/strong> <\/span>is not open to students with credit for MATH 241, which will be accepted in lieu of ECON 249.
<\/span>\u00a5<\/strong> <\/span>Psychology 107 or Sociology 205 may not be substituted for Economics 249 except by students who have taken either course as part of a Psychology or sociology co-major. <\/span><\/p>\n

**General Electives: Students may complete general electives by taking courses in (most) department\/s or programs they choose; however, depending on the course\/program, students may need department permission and\/or prerequisite course\/s. Electives may be used to supplement the chosen major (an English <\/span>major may want to take a course in French or Italian literature) or to fulfill interest in a different area (a Music major may be interested in the physics of <\/span>sound). Students are encouraged to use available electives to complete a dual major, minor, pre-requisites for graduate or professional school, or complete and internship, experiential learning and\/or study abroad.
