To Declare Accounting Major

If you are interested in becoming a Certified Public Accountant, you would have to choose the Advanced Accounting track to be on a path to that career. This program, plus another 30 credits, such as the Master of Science in Accounting at QC, would fulfill the educational requirements needed to become a CPA. The applicant would also need to fulfil the experience requirement of the applicable state board of accountancy and pass the CPA exam to become certified.

Declaration of major is a process that takes time and planning. Students should start early enough to complete it before the next registration deadline. Please follow the steps below:

1. Down load the ‘Yellow Sheet’ and compare the two program options within our accounting major.
2. Download and complete the Declaration of Major Form  and choose one of the two tracks.
   • • Major: Accounting – BBA
       Concentration: ACCT – Advanced Accounting
     • Major: Accounting – BBA
       Concentration: ACCT – Business Accounting
3. Download and complete the Concentration Form. This form helps students to plan their future semesters for a timely graduation.

4. Contact the Department of Accounting & Information Systems to have an advisor assigned to you.

5. Schedule a meeting with your advisor to discuss your academic planning and to receive sign-off approval on your Declaration of Major Form and Concentration Form.
