Departmental Awards<\/h4>\n

The Department of Anthropology gives six memorial awards at commencement to anthropology majors who have demonstrated excellence in their coursework, each named after a former faculty member in our department. Anthropology majors may also earn departmental Honors at commencement on the basis of their grade point averages (GPAs) and other indicators of excellence. Students with GPAs of 3.5 or better who would like to earn High Honors in Anthropology should apply to the department during their junior year for permission to write an honors thesis on a subject chosen by them in consultation with a member of the faculty. The department also gives a service award to a student in recognition of outstanding service to the department.
