This course explores the relationship between intensive examinations of small populations and broad interpretations of the human condition. Emphasis is placed on close analyses of ethnographies representing different theoretical positions.<br \/><strong><\/strong><strong><\/strong><br \/><strong>240. Essentials of Archaeology. <\/strong>3 hr.; 3 cr.<br \/>Prereq.: Six credits in social science or sophomore standing.<br \/>An examination of archaeological techniques and methods of interpretation that provide the basis for reconstruction of the lifeways of past cultures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong> 260. Essentials of Biological Anthropology. <\/strong>3 hr.; 3 cr.<br \/>Prereq.: Anthropology 102 or any college biology course.<br \/>An in-depth overview of the method and theory of biological anthropology to solidify student understanding of the discipline\u2019s key concepts via in-class discussion and hands-on exercises.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>280.\/LCD 280.
