For more than a decade, he has been a member of an international team of scholars excavating at Omrit, a Roman and Early Byzantine site in northern Israel. Currently, his research focuses on the well-preserved temple complex at Omrit and its three Corinthian temples. His interests include the use and reception of Roman religious architecture and temple sculpture in the fringe areas of the empire and the transmission of stoneworking techniques. He also works at Leukos, a Roman and Early Byzantine port settlement on the Greek island of Karpathos in the Dodecanese. She specializes in Renaissance Italy, but teaches across the Queens College curriculum. In courses such as Introduction to Art History I\/II, Baroque and the Beginnings of Globalism, or graduate seminars, Horton\u2019s courses emphasize cross-cultural analysis, artistic processes and techniques, and connections to our current moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In 2023-24, Horton was a Faculty Fellow for Open Educational Resources at Queens College and in 2024-25 she is a Kress Fellow for Teaching with Primary Sources at the Archives of American Art. Horton recently published \u201cTeaching Medieval Jerusalem: Student-Centered Approaches to Interpreting Historical Objects and Spaces,\u201d in\u00a0<i>The Once and Future Classroom<\/i>, the journal for the Teaching Association of Medieval Studies. He received his PhD at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Prior to Queens College, for a number of years he taught at the Pratt Institute, and was a museum lecturer at the Museum of Modern Art. He holds an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts and a PhD in Pre-Columbian Art and Architecture from The Graduate School and University Center of CUNY. He teaches courses in the art and architecture of the ancient Americas, Asia, and Africa. His broad research interests stem from an interest in the distinct traditions that collided first in the Caribbean and Latin America in the fifteenth century, and in the lost traditions, syncretisms, and innovations of the colonial and early modern periods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">His 2016 book,\u00a0<i>Handbook of Ceramic Animal Symbols in the Ancient Lesser\u00a0Antilles<\/i>,\u00a0catalogued and interpreted the twenty-plus most common zoomorphs that occur in the surviving arts of the pre-Columbian Caribbean, surveying traditional narratives and other folklore, Caribbean and Amazonian ethnography, ethnozoology, island biogeography and other disciplines to offer insight into the cultural significance of these animal symbols. His 2019 book,\u00a0<i>Pre-Columbian Art of the Caribbean<\/i>\u00a0offered a broad survey of over two millennia of ceramic, sculptural, architectural, lapidary, rupestrian, and body art in the pre-Conquest Antilles. Woodfinis a specialist in the arts of Byzantium and its neighbors in the medieval world. His specific areas of interest include the ritual and ideological uses of objects and images; textiles and clothing; artistic agency; hierarchies of media; cross-cultural reception and appropriation of artistic motifs; and historical memory, amnesia, and reinvention in the Middle Ages.<\/p>\n<p>He is author of<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>The Embodied Icon: Liturgical Vestments and Sacramental Power in Byzantium<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>(Oxford, 2012) and co-editor of<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Clothing the Sacred: Medieval Textiles as Fabric, Form, and Metaphor<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>(Edition Imorde, 2015) with Mateusz Kapustka. He curated the exhibition<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>From the Desert to the City: The Journey of Late Ancient Textiles<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>at the Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College as well as the 2015 Met Museum installation<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Liturgical Textiles of the Post-Byzantine World.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>His articles have appeared in<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Dumbarton Oaks Papers, Gesta, Ars Orientalis, The Art Bulletin,<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>and<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies,<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>among other journals.<em><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>He is currently working on a monograph exploring the ways in which actual liturgy enacted by the Orthodox clergy interacted with artistic representations of the \u201cheavenly\u201d liturgy in the 11<sup>th<\/sup><span>\u00a0<\/span>to 15<sup>th<\/sup><span>\u00a0<\/span>centuries.<\/p>\n<p>He earned his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002, and his research has been supported by fellowships at the Met Museum, the University of Z\u00fcrich, Dumbarton Oaks, and the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies. He received his BFA from the Cooper Union School of Art and his MFA from Yale University. In addition to working as a fine art photographer, Gonzalez has taught photography for over 30 years including at The Cooper Union, Pratt Institute and New York University. Since 2002, Gonzalez has been teaching full-time at Queens College, CUNY and is currently a Tenured Professor and the Deputy Chair of the Photography &amp; Imaging BFA Program. Gonzalez is a contributing author for The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, Second Edition and Third Edition by Christopher James, A Step-by-Step Manual Highlighting Artists and Their Creative Practice by Christina Z. Anderson and is featured most recently in the Alternative Process Photography for the Contemporary Photographer: A Beginner&#8217;s Guide 1st Edition by Morgan Post. In 2016, \u201cNAIADS\u201d was featured in the Arezzo &amp; Fotografia Biennial for photography in Arezzo, Italy and most recently in June 2024 Gonzalez had a solo exhibit titled \u201cLittle Red\u201d in Queens, NY. He is a Professor at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY), as well as Co-Director with Professor Chlo\u00eb Bass of the Andrew A. Mellon Foundation funded project Social Practice CUNY (SPCUNY) headquartered in the Center for the Humanities, the Graduate Center, and was an associate of the Art, Design and the Public Domain program of Harvard University\u2019s Graduate School of Design (2013-2021). Sholette holds a PhD in History and Memory Studies from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2017), he is a graduate of the Whitney Independent Study Program in Critical Theory (1996), Graduate of University of California San Diego (1995), The Cooper Union School of Art (1979), and Bucks County Community College (AAS 1976). He is active with Gulf Labor Coalition and was a co-founder of the collectives Political Art Documentation\/Distribution (PAD\/D: 1980-1988), and REPOhistory (1989-2000) and is the curator of Imaginary Archive: a peripatetic collection of documents speculating on a past whose future never arrived with iterations in Kyiv Ukraine, ICA Philadelphia, Galway, Ireland and Zeppelin University in Germany. His art and research theorize and document issues of collective cultural labor, activist art, and counter-historical representations that because of their ephemerality, politics, and marketplace resistance typically remain invisible. He has contributed to such journals as FIELD, Eflux, Artforum, Frieze, October, Critical Inquiry, Texte zur Kunst, Afterimage, CAA Art Journal and Manifesta Journal among other publications. She holds an MFA from Louisiana State University in 2001, BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1997.<br \/>Ho has taught and run workshops, lectures, and exhibitions across Canada, as well as from Metropolitan Museum of Art and Harvard University to Hong Kong and Jingdezhen. She has taught at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond; Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary; and Concordia University in Montreal.<br \/>Ho has exhibited in the United States, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, France, Germany, Romania, India, Turkey, and Italy. She was nominated in 2011 for a Louis Comfort Tiffany Fellowship. Ho&#8217;s series, \u201cEden,\u201d was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Giovanni Nicelli private airport of Venice Lido Island during Venice Biennale 2022. Though meticulously rendered with illusionistic clarity and formal precision, his works are marked by indeterminacy and narrative ambiguity. He considers himself primarily motivated by formal concerns. For both political and creative reasons, he privileges engaging with a well-known visual language\u2014in his case, traditional representation\u2014and presenting it as if unfamiliar, rather than pointing to states of affairs, narrating stories, or conveying determinate information.<\/p>\n<p>Kauper has had solo shows at ACME Gallery in Los Angeles, Deitch Projects in New York, Almine Rech Gallery, New York, and Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Los Angeles. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in the United States and Europe, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Pompidou Center in Paris, Kunsthalle Vienna, and the Stedelijk Museum in Ghent. He has received awards from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Hammer Museum; the Art Institute of Chicago; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Weatherspoon Museum; and the Yale University Art Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>He has taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Yale University, Princeton University, and the New York Academy of Art.
