Notable feature changes since Java 8 until Java 14 Chandra Guntur, Director at BNY Mellon<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Blog<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>Presentation Slides<\/a><\/p>\n

Given the breadth of the topic and a time limit, this session will only cover the most notable or impactful changes.For instance, Java 9 introduced 150 new features: Java 9 changes focus on programmatic\/syntactic changes for most part but will cover the new Java Module system JPMS, since it makes a huge impact for library developers. Similar constraints apply for Java 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14. However, post-Java 9, the release cadence of 6 months has greatly reduced the number of features delivered making the content more viable to present a larger percentage of changes.<\/p>\n

Chandra Guntur has been a technologist in the financial services industry since 2003 and is programming with Java since 1998. Chandra was selected as a 2019 Java Champion. He is a Java User Group (JUG) Leader, and helps run one of the largest Java user groups, NYJavaSIG and leads the NYJavaSIG Hands-On-Workshops (HOW), conducting code workshops and creating Code Katas on core Java features. He is a frequent speaker at Java user groups, and technology conferences including Oracle CodeOne, Oracle Code NY, QCon New York, Devnexus and GIDS India. Chandra holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Kaggle, Philippe Modard<\/strong><\/p>\n

Philippe Modard is the Tech Lead of the backend team at Kaggle, a start-up which has used predictive modeling competitions to solve problems across a range of fields, including mapping dark matter and now, COVID-19. The platform is the world\u2019s largest data science and machine learning community, with over four million members. Philippe will tell us more about the company, from describing the mission to the product\u2019s core products. He\u2019ll then dive into Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), the latest addition to Kaggle Notebooks.”<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Massachusetts Cloud<\/strong>, Larry Rudolph<\/p>\n

Larry Rudolph is a Senior Research Scientist and VP at Two Sigma Investments LLP, a Visiting Scholar at NYU, Affiliate off CSAIL MIT, Academic Board Member of the Mass Open Cloud, and CTO of ReDigi. He will talk about Massachusetts Cloud and some of its projects he co-advises some of the students and have been involved since its inception.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
