Serving as a bridge between the academic program and the community, the center has a wide array of exciting extracurricular events, making it a preeminent Jewish intellectual and cultural resource for the entire region. Through its imaginative programming, the center seeks to:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 8px;text-align: justify;line-height: 1.4em\">Engage the college and general public in Jewish education and culture by organizing lectures, symposia, conferences, films, music and theater performances.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 8px;text-align: justify;line-height: 1.4em\">Foster Jewish learning in the community.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 8px;text-align: justify;line-height: 1.4em\">Publish and disseminate scholarly proceedings to laypeople and scholars.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 8px;text-align: justify;line-height: 1.4em\">Promote academic community among students and faculty.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 8px;text-align: justify;line-height: 1.4em\">Encourage and sustain the pedagogic and scholarly activities of the faculty and students within the Jewish Studies Program at Queens College.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"line-height: 1.4em\">Combat and overcome intolerance and stereotyping while promoting understanding among diverse groups on campus and within the broader community, with a belief in nurturing a sense of shared citizenship on issues transcending differences while recognizing and celebrating the beauty of difference.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Center for Jewish Studies is the research and outreach arm of Jewish Studies on campus, promoting Jewish knowledge, scholarship, and culture outside the formal classroom setting.
